Happy, Eppay... Cheeeeezzzeee.

Happy, happy in person. Enjoy!

The Ziploc Box

This box is flippin' hilarious! Anders is so proud of his box. He got it out of the trash on Sunday morning and thought it would be a great car holder. It is... it holds a ton of cars and is just right for his little hands. So the funny part of the story goes like this. He insists on taking it to church. On the way to church he falls asleep, (great kid!!) so I carry him into the building, lay him down on the pew, and go back outside for Liam, who is also asleep. I get back into the church, (I'm gone for all of 35 seconds) to find Anders awake, and looking for his "boc-o-cars". I send Elleory back out to the car to get said box. Anders spends the whole of Sacrament meeting driving the cars up and down the lid of the box. Totally quiet the whole time. So the end of the meeting rolls around and Anders is all packed up to go to nursery, BEFORE the closing song and prayer. When suddenly he realizes that his Dad has not yet seen the box. So out the pew he goes, box in hand on his way to show Daddy. I catch him by the back of his shirt, and am explaining that we have to sing and pray THEN we can show daddy. The poor chorister, my friend Sharla, is practially in tears from laughing at the situation (or it could be that it was her son's farewell talk and she was still crying about that, but she was definitely laughing at us) So I have Anders by the back of his shirt, and he is trying his hardest to get to Daddy. Amazingly he is been very quiet about it. Then the Prayer ends, and I let him go. He is to the stand in Olympic record time, holding the box like he has the most expensive, valuable thing imagable, has this angelic look on his face, and is shoving people out of the way, because he has the most important thing in the world to show Brian. I think Brian gave him the right amount of attention, and praise for the box because next thing I know he is on his way to nursery, box in hand to show his teacher. At this point I have to do some serious wheeling and dealing to get him to trust me with his treasure. Luckily the lid started to fall off and I got to take it with me to get fixed. I used an enormous amount of tape to fix the holy grail of boxes. The things we do to make our kids happy. So today is Tuesday, and the box is still holding a place of honor, and being taken everywhere we go. It has to stay in the car when we get out, only because of it's fragile state, and the museum quality tape job that is holding together. So below are the picture we took with the box. The smile says it all.

Camping Trip

Hope you can see the slide show. It's taken me almost all night to figure it out! We had an AWESOME camping trip to celebrate Elleory's 10th Birthday this past weekend. (Friday night and Saturday) The weather was great, and the park was amazing! However, I was too cold to sleep in the tent and slept in the car instead. Elleory and Brian were just fine in the tent and slept on the ground even. (Our air bed blower broke at Lake Powell) The next day we did a fun little hike around the "Grove of the Patriarchs" which is an old growth forest of HUGE (but not as big as the redwoods) Cedars and Douglas firs. Mt. Rainier is covered in glacieral ice and is a volcano, not sure if it is active or not (assuming not). We drove around and visited a few other sights, waterfalls and reflection lakes, before heading home to our boys. Elleory was really pleased with her trip and has plans to go back each year for her birthday.

Big thanks to Sarah for watching out little guys overnight, and taking them to the zoo. They also had fun while we were gone.

I need an ice cream phone

I'm sitting trying to think of what to write, and I have Anders sitting at my elbow saying "I need an ice cream phone." He has probably said it six times in two minutes. It's pretty cold today and I don't feel like an ice cream phone, so I'm not hopping right up to provide one for the little man. Shouldn't Blue's Clues be sufficient??? Geez! Then I remember he didn't eat lunch. I made it for him, he turned it down. I'm not sure ice cream is appropriate right now. How to get some protein into him...hmmm.

ANYWAY, big news at the Bergholm House. Brian was called to serve as the second counselor in the bishopric at church this last week (Wednesday night) and was sustained and set apart yesterday. I'm really happy for him, I know he is totally freaking out, but I have faith that he will do a great job, and that we will be fine sitting all alone at church. Probably not my biggest concern, but it seems to be the ward's biggest concern for our family. I think his first day went pretty well. He did say we would need to buy some new white shirts and possibly a new suit for him. Maybe I should get some new clothes too. Sounds fair.

We have two weeks left of summer vacation. I'm getting to the end of my "things to do with my children" list. I have a few left, big things, art museum, IKEA, stuff like that. I'm totally looking forward to the cool weather, but not the rain. Halloween is just around the corner!! My kids have it off of school, AND it's on a Friday! How cool is that? If we had a bigger house, we would probably have a party. We'll come up with something fun and cool. It's the best holiday ever, so...

I guess we're off to get that ice cream phone, after we eat some orange cheese.

Thought I'd add some picture of the other kids on the blog.
Elleory enjoying the park in Parker, CO.

This is Anders after a big slide with great static-y hair!

Childhood Nostalgia

Remember shrinky-dinks? I found some at a craft store at the beginning of the summer, and put them away for a "rainy day". Well it's not raining today, actually it's really beautiful, but no one is available to play. TRAGEDY!! So out they came from the closet. We are going on the second hour of fun as I type. I've made the coolest key chain possible for my keys, and Anders is yelling "AWESOME" to everything. Elleory is coming up with some cute things for her friends, and for a scrapbook. Who knew that something we did as kids maybe once (I not even sure I did it at home) could be so entertaining to my kids today? It doesn't even have an annoying soundtrack to back it up! Maybe I could introduce Kick the Can to the neighborhood kids, we had hours of fun with that. I'm not sure I remember how to play it though.

Or not...

I'm not going to be able to sleep, so I guess I'm going to blog. Thought I'd explain "Happy, Happy..." It's Liam's actual tag line. He says it while walking around, he could be anywhere. You have to imagine Frosty the Snowman (the christmas special) When he wakes up and yells "Happy Birthday!!" Liam's "Happy, Happy" Started out as "Happy Birthday!!" but has now morphed to "Happy Eppay!!" But is in general a statement of his mood. So I'd like to promote that mood in our home, So... Happy, happy.
This is the basket from Grandma Sandy's basketball hoop. He wore it around the house for most of the day. Liam loves a great "Hot". (hat)

Nap or Blog...

HMMMM, Nap or blog, blog or nap? Silly question!

So new to this whole cyber-thing

So it's Sunday after church and I told Brian that (Quote) "I'm just going upstairs to check in on the family. " (unquote) and BAM I totally get sucked into the blog thing. So here it is our first post, my first post, let's be completely honest, I'm going to be the only one to write here. Cyber journaling... I'll have to find a way to save it so when I stand before God, I can show him that yes, indeed, I did follow that commandment. (I'm not sure that this is exactly what he had in mind, but it not like there were spacific directions.)
